Dr Hwang is the current Head of Department of Hematology of the Singapore General Hospital as well as Program Director of its Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Program. He serves as Medical Director of the Singapore Cord Blood Bank, the country’s only public cord blood bank. He also serves as President of the World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) as well as the Singapore Society of Hematology (SSH). For the last few years, his research has centered on ex vivo expansion of cord blood stem cells and mesenchymal stromal cell therapy.
