Dr. Hou graduated from the Second Military Medical University in 1985. In 1993, he obtained his PhD degree from the same school. Now he is the Director and Professor of Myeloma and Lymphoma Center, Department of Hematology, Changzheng Hospital, the Second Military Medical University. He has focused on basic and clinical research of myeloma and the related diseases for more than 20 years and has published more than 230 papers in this field. His current interest is target therapy and immunotherapy for lymphoid malignancies, in particular myeloma. As a PI or site PI, he has conducted more than 10 important global or national-wide clinical trials.

Dr. Hou is a member of International Myeloma Working Group. He is active in academic activities and is also committee members of several national academic societies, domestic and international journals.
